...    Lang geleden zijn we verschillende keren met de tent op vakantie in de Dordogne geweest. Steeds op andere campings in de omgeving van Sarlat. Eerste foto van vrouw en drie kinderen in 1986. Tweede foto in 1992 aan de rivier. (De laatste keer. Onze oudste zoon was al niet meer mee). We hebben al veel grotten en kastelen gezien. Het leek ons leuk om nog een keer naar de Dordogne te gaan. Uiteraard nu zonder kinderen en een stuk ouder. We hebben plekken bezocht, die we nog niet kenden. Helaas was er vroeg in juni al een hittegolf. Zelfs een dag met 36 graden. Die dagen zijn we 's ochtends op pad geweest.

Long ago we went on holiday in the Dordogne several times with the tent. Always on different campsites in the area of ​​Sarlat. First photo of wife and three children in 1986. We thought it would be nice to go to the Dordogne again. Of course now without children and a lot older. We visited places that we did not know yet. Unfortunately there was a heat wave early in June. Even a day with 36 degrees. Those days we went out in the morning.

We hadden deze stacaravan op Camping Le Val d'Ussel bij Proissans. We hadden het mooiste uitzicht, maar wel ver weg van de ingang met een pad dat omhoog liep. Een flinke wandeling dus om 's ochtends stokbrood met croissants te halen.

We had this mobile home at Camping Le Val d'Ussel near Proissans. We had the most beautiful view, but far away from the entrance with a path that went up. Quite a walk to get baguette and croissants in the morning.

Een paar foto's die onderweg zijn genomen vlak bij de camping. Het was leuk om weer over de smalle bochtige wegen te rijden.  A few pictures taken along the way near the campsite. It was fun to drive on the narrow winding roads again.

 
   Er waren heel veel bloeiende tamme kastanjes langs de weg. There were many flowering chestnut trees along the road.
  Hier moesten we vaak onderdoor. We often had to pass underneath this.

 

Montignac Lascaux: Grotten van Lascaux / Lascaux Cave

De oorspronkelijke grot met de schilderingen van allerlei dieren is gesloten, maar de replica, die men gemaakt heeft, is niet van de echte grot te onderscheiden. 
In het moderne gebouw zijn ook interessante tentoonstellingen met uitleg hoe alles gemaakt is en over de geschiedenis van de grot.

The original cave with the paintings of all kinds of animals is closed, but the replica that was made is indistinguishable from the real cave.
In the modern building there are also interesting exhibitions with explanations of how everything was made and about the history of the cave.

Kasteel Losse / Castel Losse

Een Renaissance kasteel in Thonac aan de oevers van de rivier Vézère. De tuin viel wat tegen. De omgeving is daarenten heel mooi. 

A Renaissance castle in Thonac on the banks of the Vézère river. The garden was a bit disappointing. The surroundings are very beautiful.

Sarlat-la-Canéda

Een prachtige stad met in het centrum veel middeleeuwse huizen. In de winkel op de foto deden we de eerste vakantie al inkopen. 

A beautiful city with many medieval houses in the center. We already did our first holiday shopping in the shop in the photo.

Tuinen van Eyrignac.  Gardens of Eyrignac.

Park van 10 hectare met wel 300 in vorm gesnoeide buxussen en taxussen. Ik houd meer van natuurlijke tuien. Maar met de uitzichten heb ik er toch van genoten. Trouwens ook van de vele sculptures van Pierre Treilhes, die op dat moment werden tentoongesteld. 

Park of 10 hectares with 300 box trees and yews cut into shape. I prefer natural gardens. But with the views I enjoyed it anyway. Incidentally also the many sculptures of Pierre Treilhes, which were exhibited at that time.

Les Jardins D'eau (Carsac-Aillac). Watertuinen, watergardens.

In Saint Rome, bij Carsac. Een Thematuin van drie hectare. Heel veel lelies. Over vlonders loop je tussen de waterplanten en kun je ze goed bekijken. Prachtige vijvers met stilstaand water, beekjes met stromend water. 
We kozen deze tuin ook vanwege de hitte op die dag. We hadden beslist geen spijt.

In Saint Rome, near Carsac. A theme garden of three hectares. Lots of lilies. You walk on planks between the water plants and you can see them well. Beautiful ponds with still water, streams with flowing water.
We also chose this garden because of the heat that day. We definitely did not regret it.
